Malcolm Logistics have now launched their Secondary Distribution Service, operating from their Newhouse distribution centre, which covers 450, 000 sq ft of warehousing space and 100,000 sq ft of modern bonded warehousing. This operation services many 'blue-chip' customers nationwide.
Our customers stock begins its journey from Daventry International Railfreight Terminal (DIRFT), which is operated by Malcolm Rail, on services to Mossend or Grangemouth. From here it is transported to our Distribution Centre at Newhouse.
On arrival at our distribution centre, pallets are processed through our Warehouse Management System and are picked for the customer on an as required basis. The WMS system operates on a 'FIFO' basis (First In – First Out), with the oldest stock being distributed first. Our experienced forklift driver's then load the pallets onto our specialist vans for final delivery. Traffic planners at Newhouse organise the distribution of goods to economise loads and utilise pallet space.
IT support is fundamental to assisting operations and Malcolm Logistics has proven integration with systems and major ERP solutions, which allows for the most up-to-date stock availability. This is supplemented by end-to end barcode scanning and real time track and trace resulting in greater control over all of our customers stock.
