United Glass

United Glass needed a dependable logistics supplier to help it stay ahead of increasing demand from the drinks and food processing industries.

Its association with The Malcolm Group started small, in the form of road transport from UG's Alloa plant. A decade on, Malcolm is UG's sole UK logistics supplier for the company's production facilities at Alloa and Harlow.

Working from the UG sites, Malcolm manages all the firm's freight - over 150 loads a day - and its warehouse needs. UG was the first customer to commit to Malcolm's rail initiative: a third of the stock movements between Alloa and Crick are now carried by rail. It's part of a full service stretching from production line to end user.

Roger Kirk, UG's Finance & Logistics Director noted:
