The Malcolm Group Chooses Lis For Supply Chain Control

The Malcolm Group, a major third party logistics provider in the UK, has chosen LIS' market-leading warehouse management system to support its plans for future growth. Dispatcher-WMS from LIS will manage the inventory handling requirements of the Group's customers, underpinning the company's plans to become an increasingly major force in the UK's third party logistics market.

Dispatcher-WMS will be responsible initially for strengthening overall efficiency and management control at seven Malcolm Group sites in the UK. LIS' advanced alerting and event management functionality will ensure that warehouse supervisors and account directors are notified in real-time of crucial events occurring in the supply chain. As a result, The Malcolm Group will be able to react quickly to any changes or problems, thus building upon existing high levels of customer service. In addition, Dispatcher-WMS' management reporting tools will provide greater visibility of operations within each warehouse.

Jim Beveridge, business development director at The Malcolm Group, commented: "The third party logistics market is now more competitive than ever. By complementing our practical approach with advanced technology solutions such as Dispatcher-WMS, we aim to stand out from our competitors. We already provide a compelling and cost-effective choice for companies to manage their supply chains, and LIS supports this by providing track and trace of inventory in real-time and collaboration across supply chains. This ensures that our service is accurate, efficient and fast."

Mike Dean, UK managing director at LIS, added: "The Malcolm Group's decision to implement Dispatcher-WMS shows how leading third party logistics providers are looking to deliver more value to their customers. To succeed in an increasingly competitive market, third party providers must look to take advantage of the benefits that advanced supply chain solutions can provide."

The Malcolm Group carried out a two-year research project into the top ten WMS vendors in the industry. The company selected LIS as the company offered a functionally-rich best-of-breed solution, with a flexible implementation approach which would not disrupt existing customer processes. The Malcolm Group intends to extend the LIS software to other sites, as part of a plan to overhaul all supply chain software used within its logistics division.
