The Malcolm Group Invests In 24 New JCB Backhoes

The Malcolm Group has taken delivery of 24 new JCB backhoe loaders in a deal worth nearly one million pounds.

The Scottish based, logistics and construction services firm has purchased the 24 new JCB 3CX Sitemaster models to strengthen its impressive plant hire fleet.

The Malcolm Group employs over 1,300 people and operates a largescale logistics network across the UK. Its Construction Services division is one of the UK's leading construction and waste management companies, specialising in medium to large contract civil engineering and earthmoving projects. Services include demolition, bulk excavation, foundations, drainage, roads and car parks, sports pitch installation, waste and recycling and plant & tipper hire.

The Malcolm Group is no stranger to JCB machinery with its 120 strong fleet of heavy plant including large numbers of JCB mini excavators, tracked excavators and Loadall telescopic handlers.

It is in the plant hire sector that the new JCB backhoe loaders will be working, the machines' versatility enabling a range of general plant hire tasks to be untertaken.

There are several key factors why JCB backhoes were chosen including the machines' reputation both with potential customers and operators, the economic running costs and the guarantee of quality service from JCB's Scottish dealer, Scot JCB

Andrew Malcolm, Group Chief Executive said: "We chose the JCB 3CX machines based on previous experience - for an all round performer it is the best backhoe available. The machine is widely accepted by both drivers and the market place and its low operating costs are an additional bonus. The service and backup we receive from Scot JCB is very good in all areas - from warranty deals to parts supply and repair."

While high performance and quality remain the hallmarks of the machine, operator ease of use and comfort now play an equally important role. The new JCB 3CX is the most productive, operator-friendly JCB ever.

The new 3CX Sitemasters feature an all-new automotive quality cab built for comfort and ease of use and a significant increase in all-round visibility.

It also boasts powershift transmission, with up to 11% more tractive effort and significantly increased tear out forces and loader lift capacity.
