Malcolm Construction is a major division of the Malcolm Group and is one of the largest civils contractors in the country, also operating the largest tipper and skip hire fleet in Scotland and is a recognised leader in landfill, waste management and recycling. Our Plant operations form a crucial part of the division, with over 140 items of large plant. We have excellent opportunities for skilled and experienced Plant Operators to join us in a variety of roles across a number of construction projects across West and Central Scotland, for example 360 degree tracked & wheeled Excavators, 3CX, articulated and rigid dump trucks, dozers. 

Scope and Purpose of the Role

To undertake various groundworks and construction operations using appropriate plant machinery and vehicles, adhering to stringent health and safety regulations and in accordance with site plans. Ideally you will be the holder of a CPCS blue card with lifting operations category but as a minimum you must possess a CPCS red card with lifting operations category. You will be based on various client sites so a valid driving license is essential.


Key Duties and Accountabilities (will include but not be limited to)

  • Adhere to all H&S rules. Comply with other sites rules and maintain high standards of compliance, hygiene and housekeeping
  • Comply with all relevant site safety and other regulations and procedures 
  • Operate relevant items of Plant dependent on certificates of compliance and site needs
  • Wearing correct company uniform and PPE
  • Maintaining a professional standard at all times
  • Carry out pre-use checks prior to using any equipment, complying with appropriate documentation & procedures
  • Reporting of any vehicle defects / damage or H&S issues
  • Provide relevant feedback to management on information gathered whilst completing duties
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness using all equipment safely as specified in operating procedures and Safe Systems of Work
  • Operate in accordance with company policies and procedures


Key Experience and Qualifications

  • Ideally you will be the holder of a CPCS blue card with lifting operations category
  • It is essential that you possess a CPCS red card with lifting operations category
  • Must have a current, valid operating certificate and relevant experience appropriate to the category required
  • General construction/groundworks experience as well as specific experience of operating the category of Plant required
