Malcolm Construction wins the Geotechnical Award for Lost Shore Surf Resort
Malcolm Construction was delighted to be presented with the Geotechnical award for Lost Shore Surf Resort at the Scottish Civil Engineering Awards on Friday 29th August 2025 in Edinburgh.
Set within a sprawling 60-acre country park in Ratho to the West of Edinburgh, Lost Shore Surf Resort is the world’s first inland surf resort and home to Europe’s largest wave pool which is the size of three football pitches.
The Scottish Civil Engineering Awards are widely recognised as the highest honour of engineering excellence in the built environment. This recognition is a testament to the skill and experience of the team that worked on Lost Shore Surf Resort.
The CECA Scotland judges commented:
“A world class leisure facility has been delivered by the innovative use of geotechnical modelling techniques to overcome significant engineering challenges. This is a very impressive project!”
Andy Hadden, Founder of Lost Shore Surf Resort said:
“Delivering Lost Shore Surf Resort on reclaimed ground to institutional-grade standards was a formidable geotechnical challenge. The Malcolm Group and Ramage Young were exceptional partners throughout, combining deep expertise with real ingenuity, collaborating closely with our wider supply chain, and solving problems before they could slow us down. They are at the top of their game and consistently went above and beyond on safety, quality and programme delivery. This recognition is testament to years of relentless teamwork - blood, sweat and serious engineering brains - turning an ambitious vision into a world-class leisure and sporting destination for Scotland.”
We would like to thank everyone that worked with and supported Malcolm Construction in the successful delivery of this exceptional project.
