Key Responsibilities

Operational Support

  • Support the Warehouse Manager in the safe, legal, and efficient running of the warehouse within agreed budget and resource levels
  • Deputise for the Warehouse Manager when required

Health & Safety Leadership

  • Monitor and drive health & safety performance, ensuring compliance with all regulations and company standards
  • Deliver onsite health & safety initiatives and continuous improvement activities
  • Track and act on H&S KPIs, including issuing proactive PSCs
  • Participate in Safety Committee meetings and promote a strong safety culture

Resource & Performance Management

  • Ensure the warehouse is appropriately resourced (people, equipment, and space) to meet customer demand and KPI targets
  • Monitor daily and weekly performance, making adjustments as required to maintain service levels
  • Identify and escalate any capacity risks or shortfalls in a timely manner

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure full compliance with all legal, regulatory, and customer requirements (e.g. HMRC, BRCGS, SOPs)
  • Promote and maintain a robust product safety and quality culture

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain clear and accurate communication with customers in line with expectations
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure operational requirements are met and the site plan is delivered

Risk & Cost Management

  • Proactively identify and mitigate operational, service, and compliance risks
  • Manage controllable costs effectively, ensuring performance stays within agreed targets

People Management & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop the warehouse team to deliver high performance and support succession planning
  • Ensure teams are trained, competent, and aligned to operational requirements
  • Manage disciplinary matters in line with company procedures, working closely with HR

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive a culture of ongoing improvement by analysing performance and implementing process and people enhancements

General Responsibilities

  • Carry out any other reasonable duties to support the needs of the business

Qualifications/Skills required

Experience & Background

  • Proven experience in a warehouse, logistics, or supply chain environment, ideally in a supervisory or management role
  • Experience working within fast-paced, customer-driven operations

Leadership & People Management

  • Demonstrable ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams
  • Experience managing performance, including training, coaching, and handling investigation and disciplinary processes
  • Focus on engagement and succession planning

Health & Safety Knowledge

  • Solid understanding of warehouse health & safety regulations and best practices
  • Experience driving a proactive safety culture and managing H&S KPIs

Operational & Commercial Awareness

  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, resource planning, and performance management
  • Ability to manage budgets, control costs, and deliver against KPIs

Compliance & Standards

  • Good knowledge of regulatory and quality standards (e.g. HMRC, BRCGS, SOP compliance)
  • Experience ensuring legal and operational compliance within a warehouse environment

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

  • Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and make informed operational decisions
  • Proactive approach to identifying risks and implementing effective solutions

Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders
  • Experience working cross-functionally to deliver operational plans

Organisation & Planning

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to plan resources effectively

Continuous Improvement Mindset

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence

IT & Systems

  • Competent in warehouse management systems (such as SAP/RR) and Microsoft Office applications
