Key Responsibilities 

• Optimisation of resources and adherence of WTD and drivers’ hours legislation
• Using the driver rota, plan drivers according to shift pattern and available hours, taking into account holidays and sickness
• Maintain clear and effective communication with drivers, communicating accurate start times, load information, directions, additional shifts etc
• Ensure adherence to all statutory and legal requirements
• Effective planning of driver and vehicle resources
• Liaise with local operations covering pre-loading & unloading operations
• Ensuring that service levels are achieved and maintained, in conjunction with other departments
• Utilise and interpret the Transport Management System to maximise route planning efficiencies within given time constraints and service criteria
• Provide effective communication during shift handovers and engage with other team members regarding issues arising during the shift

Qualifications/Skills required

• Experience of working in a health & safety focused environment
• Have a strong working knowledge of the geography of the UK
• Previous experience within the logistics/transport sector
• Competent in the skill of load planning for LGV vehicles
• Can anticipate and resolve problems effectively
• Competent in the use of IT based transport systems and MS Office
• Successful track record of dealing with customers directly, both internal and external
