Key Responsibilities
- Optimisation of resources and adherence of WTD and drivers’ hours legislation
- Using the driver rota, plan drivers according to shift pattern and available hours, taking into account holidays and sickness
- Maintain clear and effective communication with drivers, communicating accurate start times, load information, directions, additional shifts etc
- Ensure adherence to all statutory and legal requirements
- Effective planning of driver and vehicle resources
- Liaise with local operations covering pre-loading & unloading operations
- Ensuring that service levels are achieved and maintained, in conjunction with other departments
- Utilise and interpret the Transport Management System to maximise route planning efficiencies within given time constraints and service criteria
- Provide effective communication during shift handovers and engage with other team members regarding issues arising during the shift
Qualifications/Skills required
- Experience of working in a health & safety focused environment
- Have a strong working knowledge of the geography of the UK
- Previous experience within the logistics/transport sector
- Competent in the skill of load planning for LGV vehicles
- Can anticipate and resolve problems effectively
- Competent in the use of IT based transport systems and MS Office
- Successful track record of dealing with customers directly, both internal and external
