Job Summary
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the safe, legal and efficient management of the warehouse within budgeted resource levels. The Warehouse Manager must ensure that the warehouse is correctly manned and equipped to meet customer expectations and set KPI’s.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and action KPI targets for their area. Participate in bi-monthly safety committee meetings when required. Drive on-site Health and Safety initiatives and campaigns and seek out areas for improvement. A target of two PSC’s should be issued weekly as a minimum. This should be for all proactive interventions, which includes positive and negative (constructive) feedback. This should not include reactive PSCs following a recorded incident.
- Ensure that the teams are correctly resourced to meet the needs of the business and are working effectively and competently on a daily/weekly basis.
- Ensure that all policies and procedures are complete, and all legal requirements are met e.g. HMRC regulations, BRCGS, SOP. Help to promote a Product Safety culture across the business.
- Conduct relevant disciplinary action where appropriate, with strict adherence to the Company’s Disciplinary Procedure. Liaise with Depot Manager/Human Resources Advisor/Manager.
- Ensure that the warehouse, assets and resources sustainably meets expected performance levels on a rolling weekly basis. Customer engagement is clear and accurate and in line with customer expectations and agreed KPI targets.
- Working effectively with the other functional Area Managers and equivalents to ensure that the logistics divisional plan is delivered on a daily/weekly basis.
- Anticipating service/people and overall compliance issues before they are escalated and mitigating potential risks before they are further escalated to Area Warehouse Manager.
- Ensuring controllable costs are kept within acceptable tolerances and targets on a rolling daily/weekly basis.
- Responsibility to anticipate and mitigate daily/weekly risks that could disrupt the successful delivery of the warehousing plan.
- Capacity planning – Monitor and review, on a daily/weekly basis, the business needs and customer demand to ensure the correct levels of storage, manning and equipment are available to meet service levels and cost targets. Timely escalation of capacity shortfalls or surpluses to Area Warehouse Manager.
- Team training, development and continuous improvement – Ensure that the local warehouse team are resourced and trained to meet expectations and to provide successful succession planning across the team. Ongoing process of analysing performance, identifying opportunities, and making incremental changes to processes, and personnel.
- Carry out any other reasonable tasks in order to meet the needs of the business.
