On Tuesday the 4th of February 2025, Malcolm Construction were delighted to host members of the Scottish Government’s Aggregates, Landfill and Devolved Tax Governance team, Revenue Scotland and the Mineral Products Association for a visit to our Loanhead Quarry. The day provided the group with an opportunity to learn more about the company’s history and the various areas of the construction industry that our Construction Division operates within.

The visit, as part of the ongoing consultation on Scottish Aggregates Tax, allowed for collaborative and engaging discussions amongst the group throughout the day on some of the key issues currently facing the industry as well as providing an opportunity for our guests to see first-hand the various operations that take place at Loanhead. Some of the topics covered included future aggregate and landfill tax policy, the importance of both primary & secondary aggregates to the Scottish industry, imperative quality standards of aggregates, environmental issues and the circular economy.
